On January 18th, we will mark the 10th anniversary of the service. I just wanted to say thanks to all of our loyal subscribers. Several have been with us since the first month back in 2010.
As of this afternoon, we just finished migrating to a new virtual server running in the Microsoft Azure cloud. If anyone has any issues with their Run Basic server, please let us know.

1&1 will migrate all Run Basic Hosting VPS containers to new hardware late this evening. The service will be down during this time for about 4-8 hours. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is not an optional migration for us. The good news is that, by tomorrow, we'll be running on faster hardware.

The Run Basic Hosting Service has been operating for more than four years now. Thanks to all of our subscribers for their continued patronage.
We will be changing our credit card processing soon. This means that all subscribers will have to manually select a package again. Each subscriber will receive an email 30 days before renewal. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The website has also been updated. There is a new privacy policy.

We have successfully completed the data center migration of all VPS containers from VPSLand to 1&1.
This transition will allow us to continue to grow smoothly and to provide better scalability and reliability for all of our subscribers.

HTTP and FTP services for all VPS containers are now being monitored by Site24x7 (http://site24x7.com). If a server goes down, I will get an email on my Blackberry.

The Pricing and FAQ pages were updated to show that the Dedicated Business 1 package supports running external programs. RB supports this with the SHELL$ function, but it is not allowed in the shared hosting environment. Thanks to the potential subscriber who asked about this and made me realize that it wasn’t explicitely stated anywhere.

A local SMTP Relay Service is now available for Shared Hobbyist 2 and Dedicated Business 1 subscribers. This service works with the built-in email feature of Run BASIC.

New subscription packages are available. The original (and only) subscription package has been renamed “Shared Hobbyist 1”. Two new packages have been added -- “Shared Hobbyist 2” and “Dedicated Business 1”. All packages have both monthly and annual payment options. Please visit the Pricing page for more details.
